Rape Victims Assistance Program :  North Carolina policy now allows victims to obtain forensic medical examinations free of charge.  Whenever a forensic medical examination is conducted as a result of a sexual assault or an attempted sexual assault that occurred in the state, the program shall pay for the examination.  A medical facility or medical professional that performs a forensic medical examination on the victim of a sexual assault or attempted sexual assault shall not seek payment for the examination except from the program.  Please visit this site for more information about the crimes covered.

North Carolina Crime Victims Compensation Services :  Victims Compensation Services reimburses citizens who suffer medical expenses and lost wages as a result of being an innocent victim of crime committed in North Carolina.  Victims of rape, assault, child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and drunk driving, as well as the families of homicide victims are eligible to apply for financial help.  Please visit this site for more information and an application for the program.  SAFE staff can assist victims with completing the application and gathering supporting documentation.

NC SAVAN: North Carolina Statewide Automated Victim Assistance and Notification :  NC SAVAN is a criminal justice information-sharing system that supports automated victim notification.  Individuals may call the toll-free number, 1-877-627-2826, to learn about an offender’s status, to register for offender notification or to learn about victim assistance resources in their area.  Please visit the site for more information.
